Ocean Energy, Inc. performed all of the marine conversion engineering for the FPSO Conoco Independence. The Conoco Independence is a 20,000 barrels/day FPSO, with approximately 2 millions barrels of storage and is installed in the Nigerian Ukpokiti field. The work was performed for Conoco Shipping under the project management of Oceaneering Production Systems. 

The work required the design of field foundations, installation rigging procedures for equipment, mooring equipment foundations, and the integration of the process systems into the ship’s existing piping and mechanical systems, and structure. Ocean Energy, as a core team member, provided concept design, finite element analysis engineering, and detailed manufacturing design of the marine components for the Conoco Independence. We were also responsible for oversight on related manufacturing. The project included the following specific tasks:

  • Water Maker & Fresh Water Purification System
  • Crane and Crane Tub Installation
  • Export System Piping and Export System Porch
  • Riser Porch Installation
  • Helideck Installation
  • Chain Stopper Detail Design
