Ocean Energy, Inc. was the principal designer of a 175’ tall, 130,000 cubic feet/day capacity floating gas
flare buoy. The project required concept engineering, and detail engineering
analysis in order to provide the FPSO with off board gas flaring. The flare buoy was moored in 535 feet of water using a single steel tether attached to a gravity
base. The buoy was configured to allow for both cargo hose and flexible pipe
connections to the FPSO. Adaptation of, and integration to, the field’s existing process systems was required.
Ocean Energy provided the engineering, finite element analyses, system analyses, and manufacturing inspection and support for:
- Development of the Buoy Configuration and Mooring System to meet Natural Frequency And Fatigue Requirements
- Concept Development of Gas Transport System
- Detail Design of Buoy and Flare Piping System
- Detail Design of Flare Porch Installation on FPSO
- Detail Engineering For Buoy
and Flare Hose
- On-Site Inspection
